William R. WAGNER, son of Capt. and Mrs. E. H. WAGNER, 44 Beaumont drive, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant, according to word received from the 8th army air force bomber station, England, where Sgt. WAGNER is stationed as a gun turret mechanic. Sgt. WAGNER attended Dartmouth university and Iowa State college [present-day Iowa State University, Ames] and was employed at the Iowa Trust and Savings bank, Estherville, before entering the service in February, 1943.

William R. WAGNER has been promoted to staff sergeant, it was announced by an 8th AAF bomber station in England. Staff Sergeant WAGNER is a gun turret and gun sight specialist. He is the son of Capt. and Mrs. E. H. WAGNER, 44 Beaumont Drive. His wife [Joan (GILMORE)] lives at Cedar Falls.

S/Sgt. William R. WAGNER, son of Capt. and Mrs. E. H. WAGNER, 49 Beaumont drive, is back in the states from several months of service with the 8th AAF.
He is spending a 35-day furlough with his wife at the home of her parents in Cedar Falls and with his mother at a cottage in Clear Lake.
Sgt. WAGNER will report to Florida for reassignment at the end of his furlough.
NOTE: The July 01, 1946 issue of The Globe-Gazette listed SSgt. WAGNER as having been a German prisoner of war during World War II.
