Family research indicates "our" Henry P. Graham was born June 21, 1836 Pennsylvania (possibly in Green County on the West Virginia Border - don't know the source of this and it may be incorrect). We know that he farmed in Johnson County, Iowa, and joined the army in Iowa City, Iowa in 1862. I have been looking for his family - the only Henry Graham that seems to match up is the Henry Graham in the household of William Graham found in the 1850 and 1860 Census in Cedar County, Iowa. Henry's children were born in Iowa. I don't know where Henry and his family was in 1870 - he is found in Butler County, KS, in 1880 - and died December 15, 1895. Several of his children ended up in Oklahoma.

My mother's (Elizabeth Davis Ivey) research in the 1980's revealed Henry Graham enlisted August 11, 1862 in the Iowa Volunteers, Union Army - at time of enlistment he was a resident of Muscatine County, Iowa - he enlisted at Iowa City. He was discharged from the Iowa Volunteers, Company D, 24th Regiment in Savannah, Georgia in July, 1865

I have a copy of his pension application, and a summary of the actions of the 24th Regiment infantry courtesy of www.civilwararchive.com

We knew he married an "Anna Mary" or "Mary," but never knew her last name - marriage between Henry Graham and Mary Zerbe is listed in your Brides index - I found this courtesy of Patrick Coughlin.
Henry had four children that I know of: Fidellia, Julia, Charles Henry and Mary Eliza. I would love to share information.

The 1850 cenus, by the way, shows additional siblings for Henry; James (also served with Henry); William, age 18; Robert age 16. I wonder if they also served with Henry and James.
Census 1850, Cedar County, Iowa, Iowa Township, page 87 household 76-76
Wm. Graham age 50
Hannah age 46
Wm age 18
Robt. age 16
Henry age 14
Jos. age 11
Jas. age 7
Mary age 5

Looking to firmly establish a link to this family, to learn more about the migration from Pennsylvania, for history of the area, Where "my" Graham family was in 1870, for more Graham family.
