Thank you so much! This is very interesting about Mary Jane and daughter, Agnes being on the 1870 Iowa Census. I will look up that census.They were also on the 1870 Kansas Census with John Lamley. My theory would be that John went first to Kansas, then Mary Jane and daughter Agnes, joined him. They later came back to Iowa. Interestingly, on the Kansas census there was a 12 yr. old daughter, "LARA or LARAN".

As to his parents, that's what I'm trying to establish. I believe his father was WILLIAM LAMLEY, but could have been Williams' brothers, LUKE LAMLEY or JOB LAMLEY.
