You can get a copy of the death certificate you're looking for through the the County Recorders Office in Cedar Co. Iowa.

You may also want to do a newspaper obituary search in the city where he resided. The Johnson Co. Historical Society has an obituary index. A few years back I paid them $5.00 per obituary column. They looked the obituary column up, photo-copied them and mailed them to me. (Since then, I was informed that they can only help Johnson Co. residents). I'm not sure what the Cedar Co. Historical Societies rules are. It's worth a call.

You might also want to contact your local library and have them help you order microfilmed newspapers for the week following your ancestors death.
