Interment services for Ferne Kohlscheen, 82, Iowa City and formerly of Tipton and West Branch, will be held Friday morning, Jan. 21, 1994 at the West Branch cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 at the West Branch Chapel of Barker Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kohlscheen died Jan. 16 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City, following an extended illness.

The daughter of William and Mae Long Pierce, she was born Aug. 28, 1911 on a farm northeast of Tipton. She graduated from Tipton high school and worked as a secretary in Dr. Jenks' office in Tipton.

She married Wilbert Kohlscheen Jan. 7, 1938 in Tipton and moved to West Branch, where she was employed at Johnson Locker and the Secrest Royal Blue Store, until her retirement. She moved to Iowa City in 1977.

Mrs. Kohlscheen is survived by a son, Robert, Iowa City; 2 brothers, Mearl Pierce, West Branch and Harold Pierce, Fair Play, Mo.; and a grandson, Steven Kohlscheen, Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.

A memorial fund has been established.
