Funeral services for Arthur L. Thess, 78, Durant, were held Dec. 18, 1993 at the Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Lawson officiating. Henry Bently was the soloist and Eva Lu Murrison was the organist. Pallbearers were Vernon and Arnold Regennitter, Dale Hein, Lynn Henderson and Jeff Thomas. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mr. Thess died Dec. 15 at St. Luke's hospital in Davenport.

The son of Herman and Jennie Zoe Sherman Thess, he was born May 10, 1915 in Calamus.

He had worked as a farmer, carpenter and a machinist at Caterpillar for 10 years. He loved hunting, fishing and working in his machine shop.

Mr. Thess is survived by a sister, Ruby Thess, Durant; a niece, Geraldine (Mrs. Richard) Delaney, and a nephew, Keith Thess, Davenport; a great-nephew, Lt. Patrick Delaney, Omaha, Neb.; and special friends, Roger and Ginger Oldham, Durant. He was preceded in death by a brother.
