Funeral services for Allen L. Conrad, 71, Lowden, were held Dec. 20, 1993 at the Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden, with the Rev. Vernon Clausing officiating. Marilyn Klahn was the organist and Anita DeWulf was the soloist. Pallbearers were Galen, Howard and Gene Conrad, Stan and Dave Sander and Terry Fox. Honorary bearers were Jason, Kurt, Dan and Michael Conrad. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery.
Graveside military rites were held by the Lowden American Legion.
Mr. Conrad died Dec. 17 at his home, following a long illness.
The son of Julius and Alma Daehn Conrad, he was born June 5, 1922 at Lowden. He married Margaret DeWulf in Toronto Nov. 18, 1944.
Mr. Conrad was a retired farmer.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He entered service Jan. 8, 1943 and served until Nov. 17, 1946 with the 584th Engineer Construction Group including 16 months overseas in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.
He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and the Lowden American Legion.
Mr. Conrad is survived by his wife; 3 sons, Gene, Davenport; Howard, Van Horne and Galen, Lowden; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Myron and a sister, Verna.
