Graveside services for Mary B. Starkey, 75, Vinton and formerly of Tipton, were held Dec. 6, 1992 at the Mt. Auburn cemetery with the Rev. Walter Phelps officiating.

Mrs. Starkey died Dec. 4 at her home in Vinton, following a sudden illness.

The daughter of Hugh and Charlotte Schishler Rife, she was born Dec. 18, 1917 in Tipton. She graduated from Tipton high school and attended nurse's college in Wisconsin. She became a LPN and moved to Davenport, where she worked at a private clinic.

She married Charles Starkey May 5, 1942 in Davenport. They later lived in Tipton, Cedar Rapids and Brandon, where they operated the Golden Age Custodial Home. They retired in Vinton in July 1980. Charles Starkey died June 18, 1987 in Vinton.

Mrs. Starkey is survived by a daughter, Sally Trachta, Cedar Rapids; a son-in-law, Doug Trachta, Cedar Rapids; 3 brothers, Glen Rife, Tipton; Marvin Rife, Knob Nost, Mo. and Paul Rife; a sister, Darlene Leaf, Tipton; a grandson, Randy Machovec, Alexandria, La.; and 3 great-grandchildren, Holly, Brandon and Noel. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; 5 sisters and one brother.
