Funeral services for Arnold Wiese, 83, Durant, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 29, 1988 at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant, with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Pallbearers are Gaylon, Gary and Greg Wiese, Steven and Loren Marten and Steve Carnes. Burial will be in the Durant cemetery.
Mr. Wiese died at his home in Durant, June 26.
The son of Julius and Anna Bruhn Wiese, he was born April 20, 1905 in Bennett. He married Emily Fouser Dec. 28, 1928 at Marshalltown. She died in 1944. He married Minnie Petersen in Tipton Aug. 20, 1947.
Mr. Wiese was a graduate of the Tipton high school class of 1921, was a past president of the Farmington township school board, a member of the Cedar County Farm Bureau since 1930 and was chancellor and life member of the Knights of Pythias of Durant.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie; a son, Donald, New Liberty; a daughter, Mrs. Delmar (Marilyn) Marten, Wilton; 9 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Leroy, Bennett and Erwin, DeWitt; and a sister, Flona Dexter, Tipton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, a daughter and a brother.
