Funeral services for Mary E. Ford, 84, Tipton, were held June 13, 1988 at the South Bethel Methodist church with the Rev. Norman Anderson officiating. Vocalists were Gene and Nelda Weih and the organist was Sharon Stiff. Pallbearers were Joe Stiff, Bill Stiff, Randy Bormann, Kenny Nebergall, Glen Nebergall and Michael Mente. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wethington; and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wethington were in charge of flowers. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
Mrs. Ford died June 9 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
The daughter of William and Fannie Chapman Christian, she was born April 14, 1904 in Tipton. She attended the rural Cedar county school and married Norman L. Ford Sr. Feb. 8, 1927. She was a lifetime resident of Cedar county.
Mrs. Ford was a member of the South Bethel United Methodist church and taught Sunday School.
She is survived by her husband of Tipton; a daughter, Grace Ford, Marion; 2 sons, Dwain Ford and Norman Ford Jr., both of Tipton; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mrs. Blanche Laucamp, Tipton; Mrs. Elsie Stiff, Tipton; Mrs. Al (Laura) Williams, Tipton; Mrs. Charles (Luella) Christianson, Muscatine and Mrs. Gilbert (Edna) Leinbaugh, Lost Naton and a brother, Warren Christian, West Branch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a grandson.
