Funeral services for Mary M. Schroeder, 81, Tipton, were held Sept. 19, 1987 at the Red Oak church, with the Rev. Gerald Ukena officiating. Nancy Hipple was vocalist and Ruby Phelps was the organist. Pallbearers were Robert Laing, Merlin Laing, Jeff Laing, Mike Laing, Wayne Laing and Danny Laing. Burial was in the Red Oak cemetery.
Mrs. Schroeder died Sept. 16 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
The daughter of James and Lily Marker Laing, she was born Dec. 30, 1905 near Tipton. She attended the rural Cedar county schools and graduated from Tipton high school in 1925. She married Max Schroeder July 17, 1937 in Cedar Rapids and she was a teacher and homemaker. She was employed by Louis Rich for 15 years.
Mrs. Schroeder lived in the Tipton and Atalissa areas and had been a member of the Red Oak church since 1918.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ron (Daisy) Wingert, Tipton; a son, Donald, Tipton; 6 grandchildren and a brother, Mearl Laing, Tipton. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister and 7 brothers.
