Funeral services for William Rupe, 72, Swisher, were held June 26, 1987 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Edward Gregory officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery, with military rites by Swisher American Legion Post 671.
Mr. Rupe died June 23, in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness.
He was born May 16, 1915 in Applebacksville, Pa., and married Helen Benesh Aug. 4, 1952 in Cedar Rapids. He farmed in Cedar county before serving in World War II and then worked at Wilson Foods for 22 years, retiring in 1972.
Mr. Rupe is survived by his wife, a sister, Irene Keller, Tipton and 3 brothers, Elmer and Harvey, both of Cedar Rapids and Raymond, Tipton.
