Funeral services for Dean C. Smith, 63, Wilton auctioneer, were held at the Gill-Lacock Funeral home Jan. 13 with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery. Pallbearers were Alfred (Stub) Lenker, Harlan (Hi) Marolf, Harlan (Tinker) Beinke, Don Rife, Wayne (Pat) Ford, Charles Herrold, Charles Schneekloth and Robert Thede.
Mr. Smith died at his home Jan. 10.
The son of Henry and Vinnie Currier Smith, he was born at Moscow July 21, 1918. He spent his life in the Wilton area. He had been an auctioneer for more than 40 years.
He was married to Gloria Heisch in Davenport Nov. 27, 1966. He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges of Muscatine.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Allan, Davenport; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Alice) Kuffin, Bettendorf; 4 grandsons; 2 brothers, Louis, Arkansas and Millard, Naples, Fla. and 2 sisters, Mrs. Gretchen McDaniel and Mrs. Orla (Betty) Hinkey, both of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
