Funeral services for Charles R. Bolton, 75, former Tipton mayor, were held at First United Methodist church Sept. 4, with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Masonic rites were conducted by Tipton Lodge No. 11 AF & AM at the Sheets and Son funeral home Sept. 3.

Pallbearers were Verl Nebergall, Harry Overman, William Goodale, Larry Martens, John VeDepo and Carl Frederick. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Thordsen were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Sylvia Gould was organist.

Mr. Bolton died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Sept. 1 following an extended illness.

The son of Henry F. and Emma J. Tripp Bolton, he was born at Arion July 22, 1899 and received his education in the Dennison schools. He was married to Ethel Goodale at South Bethel church May 3, 1924.

A resident of Tipton since 1920, he was engaged in the automobile business until he retired. For many years he operated a Pontiac agency.

He was a 50 year member of the Tipton Masonic lodge and a member of the Kaaba Shrine and Consistory at Davenport. He was a member of the Methodist church.

He served as mayor of Tipton, being appointed to office in 1946 and winning the election in 1948. He continued an active interest in local politics and was a candidate for the Tipton city council in 1961 and 1963 and a candidate for mayor last year.

He was a member of the Tipton Rotary club and served as chairman of the Salvation Army committee in Tipton for many years.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Forrest (Phyliss) Baker, Dallas, Texas and Mrs. Jerrel (Alice Ann) Gallagher, Clarence; 7 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ada Linn, Volga and Mrs. J. A. (Nellie) Walz, Hartington, Nebr., and a brother, Burton F. Bolton, Newton. He was preceded in death by a sister.
