Last rites for Elmer Henry Gehrls, 62, were held at Wilton Aug. 9 with the Rev. G. W. Ukena officiating. Burial was in the Durant cemetery. Mr. Gehrls died at his rural Wilton home Aug. 6.

The son of Henry and Sophia Hulke Gehrls, he was born in Lowden Aug. 21, 1911. He married Violinda Krebs in Clinton April 2, 1934.

He was a resident of Wilton for 27 years and was formerly a resident of Davenport. He was a member of the United Christ of Christ, Lowden and of the Moose Lodge No. 28 in Davenport. He was a retired foundry worker.

Surviving are his wife; 4 sons, Cleotis, Gerald and Delano, all of Wilton, and Arlo, Glenwood; a daughter, Mrs. Coleen Broughton, Cammanche; 5 sisters, Mrs. Anna Bergman, Clarence, Mrs. Albert (Emma) Bunge, Durant, Mrs. Clara Bunge, Mechanicsville, Mrs. Arthur (Ida) Licht, Wheatland and Mrs. Wilma Ruchotzke, Cedar Rapids; and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, a sister, 2 half-brothers; a half-sister and a grandchild.
