Funeral services for John A. Liercke, 75, Iowa City, former Clarence resident, were held July 11 at the Chapman Funeral home, Clarence.

Mr. Liercke died at University hospitals July 7 following a long illness.

Born in rural Cedar county, he was married to Adelia Meier in Dubuque, Oct. 16, 1937. They lived in Clarence where he operated the Liercke Electric service for 23 years, moving to Iowa in 1967 where Mrs. Liercke was director of the Visiting Nurses association.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence and a member of the American Legion, Victory Post 286, Clarence.

He is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister.
