William J. Marland, 41, West Branch, died June 10 following a heart attack on the campus of Kirkwood college where he was a history instructor. He had been president of the college senate for 3 years.

Mr. Marland was born Feb. 4, 1933 and attended Boston University, State Teachers college, Bridgewater, Mass., Harvard and the University of Iowa.

Mr. Marland is survived by his wife, Barbara, 2 sons, Eric and Jack, his mother, Elsa K. Marland and a sister, Marsha, Weymouth, Mass.

His body has been given to the University of Iowa college of medicine for coronary research. A memorial fund has been established through Kirkwood Foundation to provide an Indian culture collection for the Kirkwood library.
