Funeral services for Mrs. Donald (Evelyn) Nelson, 66, were held at First United Methodist church Feb. 4 with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Donald Armstrong Jr., Robert Reeve, Grant White Jr., Kenneth Jedlicka, Alvin Wright and Robert DeKock. Mrs. Don Armstrong Jr., Mrs. Robert Reeve, Mrs. Grant White Jr. and Mrs. Robert DeKock were in charge of flowers. Mrs. W. D. Willer was vocalist and Mrs. Kenneth Gould organist. Eastern Star rites were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Feb. 3.

Mrs. Nelson died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids Feb. 1 following a long illness.

The daughter of Fred C. and Agnes Ray Buss, she was born at Dow City Feb. 14, 1907 and graduated from the Dow City high school. She attended Cornell college.

She was married to Donald O. Nelson at Dow City Oct. 15, 1927. They came to Tipton in 1931 and she and her husband operated a hardware store and gift and specialty shop in Tipton until last year.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of Ally chapter of the Eastern Star at Dow City, the Tipton Garden club, the Methodist church and Circle 5 of the WSCS.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Betty Jean) Bird, Mt. Pleasant; 3 sons, Donald L., Tipton; Richard O., Swisher and John R., Decorah; 10 grandchildren and a foster grandson and 2 half-sisters, Eleanor Buss, Council Bluffs and Mrs. Jeanne Houston, Omaha, Nebr.

She was preceded in death by her brother.
