Funeral services for a former Cedar county resident, Mrs. Oscar (Emma) Powell, 60, were held at Iowa City May 9 with burial in Memory Gardens at Iowa City.

Mrs. Powell died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds in her family's fishing cabin 5 miles south of Lone Tree May 6.

Mrs. Powell was born in Lowden April 21, 1913, to Fred and Emma Boedeker Edler. She married Oscar Powell Feb. 21, 1948 in Rock Island. She had lived in Iowa City since 1943 and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are 3 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marjory) Rogers, Iowa City; Mrs. Norman (Mary) Tillson, Denver, and Ruth Powell, Iowa City; 11 grandchildren; her mother of Tipton; 3 brothers, Fred and Edwin, both of Tipton and ?, Clarence; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Hugo (Tillie) Thoeming, Tipton and Mrs. Oran (Wilma) Skinner, Cedar Rapids.

Her father, a son, a daughter, grandson and a great-granddaughter died earlier.
