Last rites for Harold A. (Doc) Roehlk, 67, mayor of Durant, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Frick Funeral home in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant cemetery. Mr. Roehlk died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, March 6 following a short illness.

Born July 12, 1905, at Bennett, he was a son of George and Annie Roehlk. He had been a resident in Durant for 16 years.

Harold Roehlk married Lola Homighausen June 16, 1934 at Toulane, Ill. He had operated a garage in New Liberty from 1934 to 1957 when the couple moved to Durant where he operated the East End Tavern until retiring in 1970. Mr. Roehlk also operated a real estate sub-agency in Durant for the Rekemeyer Agency in Tipton.

Harold Roehlk was elected mayor of Durant in 1971 and was serving in that office at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Ronald, Durant; 3 daughters, Mrs. William (Rhea) Kuemmel, Durant, Mrs. Wesley (Ann) Kuehl, Davenport and Mrs. Kenneth (Cheryl) Huesman, Stockton; 16 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Annie Roehlk, Durant; and a brother, Edward Roehlk, New Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his father and 2 brothers.
