Funeral services for Mrs. Winifred J. Conway, 82, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Feb. 17 with the Rev. Ray J. Pacha officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Conway, John Burchett, Mike Palmer, Jack Werling, Gary Sulzner and Doug Krob. Sara Ryan was organist. The high mass was sung by the congregation.

Mrs. Conway died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Feb. 14 following a long illness.

The daughter of James and Mary Murphy McSwiggin, she was born at Wilton July 23, 1890, and was educated in Wilton schools.

A former teacher she had been a cook in the Tipton schools for 24 years, retiring in 1967. She had lived in Tipton for 60 years. She was a member of St. Mary's church, St. Mary's Guild and the American School Food association.

She is survived by 2 sons, Joe, Tipton and Leon, Lisbon; a daughter, Mrs. James (Ruth) Burchett, Davenport; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Werling, Tipton and Mrs. Emma Newton, Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 8 sisters and an infant son.
