Last rites for Claud Kimberling, 82, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Feb. 19 with Dr. Alvin Desterhalft officiating. Pallbearers were Elmer Cruse, Clarence Kern, Carl Frederick, Hans Freese, Dick Thomson and Harold Heick. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist.

Mr. Kimberling died following a heart attack Feb. 16. He was walking east of the courthouse when he became dizzy and fell. Deputy Sheriff Ron Stein and Carroll Last of the county engineer's office went to help him and, when he complained of shortness of breath, they brought him in to the courthouse where he collapsed. The Tipton ambulance was called.

The son of William H. and Catherine Willims Kimberling, he was born at Point Pleasant, W. Va. March 4, 1890, and was educated in the rural schools of Mason county, W. Va.

He was married to Sarah K. Harper at Marion Sept. 5, 1911 and, after her death, to Beulah Rowe at Marion March 19, 1928. A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Cedar county since 1910 and had lived in Tipton since 1947.

He was a Presbyterian and a past member of the Moose lodge in Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Vernon Kimberling, Tipton, and Jacob Rowe, Des Moines; 3 daughters, Mrs. Francis (Virginia) Ruzek, West Branch; Mrs. Katherine Walton, Mountain View, Calif., and Mrs. Roland (Shirley) Thomson, Iowa City; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, 4 brothers and 7 sisters.
