Last rites for Mrs. Fay S. Merritt, 81, were held at St. Mary's Catholic church Feb. 8 with the Rev. Roy J. Pacha officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard Thien, Harold Laing, Martin Kipp, Charles Gibbons, Leo F. Miller and David Henderson. Kathy Wood was organist.

Mrs. Merritt died at the Utopia Nursing home Feb. 6 following a long illness.

The daughter of William and Anna M. Fay Burk, she was born at Tipton Aug. 24, 1891 and was educated in the Tipton schools. She was married to Edmund E. Merritt at Tipton Oct. 15, 1927. She lived in Tipton most of her life and was a member of the Catholic church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son and a sister.
