Funeral services for Vernon W. Kleppe, 54, a native of Bennett, were held at the Belt Line Church of Christ, Irving, Texas, Feb. 2, with burial at Irving.

Mr. Kleppe died at St. Paul's hospital, Dallas, Texas Jan. 31.

The son of William and Minnie Rohwedder Kleppe, he was born at Bennett Dec. 9, 1918. He was married to Betty Horstmann Aug. 8, 1942, at St. John's church, Clarence. She died Oct. 26, 1957. He was married to Ursula J. Myers at Elkader Sept. 18, 1964.

Mr. Kleppe farmed in the Bennett area for many years, then worked at Bettendorf before moving to Texas in the spring of 1972.

He was a member of Peace Church of Christ, Bennett, before moving to Texas.

He is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Delbert Kleppe, Irving, Texas; and Gene Kleppe, San Diego; 3 daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Carol) Hasselman, Oskaloosa; Mrs. Eugene (Linda) Biddle, and Mrs. Larry (Eileen) Biddle, both of Toronto; a step-son, Mike Myers, Irving, Texas; 6 grandchildren, and a brother, Harvey, Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents and a sister, Bernice.

His children and grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Kleppe, Bennett and Bill Rohwedder, Wheatland, all attended the funeral services.
