Last rites for Lloyd Lafayett Emerson, 77, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Jan. 15 with the Rev. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Massillon cemetery.

Jim Lyle, James Cary, Leonard Port, George Thordsen, Robert Reeve and Verlon Weaver were pallbearers. The flag was presented by the American Legion at the gravesite.

Mr. Emerson died at his home Jan. 11.

The son of John L. and Nellie Mae Skinner Emerson, he was born at Massillon Dec. 4, 1895 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county.

A farm laborer and school bus driver, he had lived in the Tipton area most of his life. He never married. He was a member of the Methodist church.

He served as a private in the army in World War I during 1918 and 1919 and was a charter member of the American Legion in Tipton.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ethel Murray, Winfield, Kans., and a brother, Lyle, West Branch, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
