Funeral services for Roy Stanley (Swede) Carlson, 56, were held at the United Church of Christ Jan. 17 with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in Cedar Memorial cemetery. Mrs. Arnold Swan was vocalist.

Pallbearers were David and Eddie Carlson, David Bowen and Gary, Richard and Jack Ryan. Honorary pallbearers were Henry DeWulf, Sam Motz, Ralph Andresen, Donavon and Edwin Stolte and Earl Eggert. Mrs. Ralph Andresen, Mrs. Edwin Stolte and Mrs. Sam Motz were in charge of flowers. Legion services were held by the Clarence post of the American Legion.

Mr. Carlson died at his home near Clarence Jan. 14, following a heart attack.

The son of David Emanuel and Anna Alfred Nelson Carlson, he was born at Galesburg, Ill., Sept. 20, 1916 and was educated in the Cedar Rapids schools. He was married to LaVonne Gwelda Streeter at Cedar Rapids Aug. 24, 1940.

A farmer, he had lived in Linn and Cedar county, farming in Tipton area for the past 16 years. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion at Clarence.

He was a member of United Church of Christ, Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Shirley, a student at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls; 2 sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mable) Bowen, Marion; and Mrs. John (Vernita) Ryan, Cedar Rapids and 2 brothers, Evar, Millbrae, Calif., and Edd, Coggan. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
