Ivan Barnhart, 57, West Branch, died at University hospital in Iowa City soon after being admitted following a fall at his home Sept. 27. The cause of death was a massive skull fracture, according to Dr. T. T. Bozek, Johnson County medical examiner.

Mr. Barnhart was born July 31, 1913, near West Branch, son of Curtis and Eva Phelps Barnhart. He married Pauline Welty, Sept. 6, 1947, at Tipton.

He farmed near West Branch and was a member of the West Branch United Methodist church. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the West Branch American Legion.

Surviving are his widow; 2 sons, Dennis, at home, and David, stationed with the armed forces in Vietnam; 2 daughters, Gwendolyn, Iowa City and Constance, a student at Kirkwood Community college; his father, Curtis Barnhart, West Branch; and 3 brothers, Harold, James and Donald, all of West Branch.
