Funeral services for Clarence Koontz, 71, were held May 5 at the Chapman Funeral home with the Rev. James Lusher officiating. Burial was in the Red Oak cemetery. Pallbearers were Vern Miller, Willis Glenn, Douglas Voelker, Melvin Wigger, Lee Voelker and Robert Cousins.

Mr. Koontz died at his home early May 3 following an extended illness. He was born May 13, 1898 at Onawa and married to Louise Cousins at Cedar Rapids Aug. 17, 1929. They have lived in Clarence the past 7 years.

A member of the American Legion he served with the navy during World War I and was also a member of St. Andrew Exemplar Lodge.

His wife survives.
