Arthur H. Bolton, 81, a native of Tipton, died at a Summit, N. J. hospital April 17. He was a retired attorney and a former chairman of the Sioux City Civil Service commission. He was visiting a daughter at the time of his death.

He was born Feb. 2, 1889 at Tipton and was graduated from the University of Iowa law school. He went to Sioux City in 1916 where he practiced law until 1967, when he retired.

He was married to Ethel Mae McKinley Aug. 20, 1914. She died Sept. 5, 1967, in Sioux City.

Mr. Bolton was a member of the Sioux City Bar association, the Iowa State Bar association, Tyrian Lodge 508, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, York Rite Bodies and the High Twelve club.

He is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. Fred G. Smith, Berkeley Heights, N.J.; Mrs. Pat Haney, Dallas, Tex.; Mrs. James W. Barrett, Bend, Ore. and Mrs. D. A. Nugent, Arlington, Tex.; 2 brothers, Ernest and Clifford, both of Tipton; 9 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
