Lorene Elizabeth Mickle, 93, of Tipton, entered eternity on Monday, November 15, 2021 while under the care of Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 27th at 1:00 pm in the Rochester United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Klink officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Rochester United Methodist Church and may be sent to Cindy Stuhr, 1775 Snaggy Ridge Road, Tipton, Iowa 52772. Lorene was born on November 18, 1927 in Blandinsville, Illinois. She was the daughter of Sal and Ruth Grigsby Hainline. She graduated from Macomb High School in 1944 and on September 19, 1945 was united in marriage to George Gaylord Mickle in Macomb, Illinois. She and Gaylord owned and operated Tipton Auto Parts for a short period of time until they bought Cushman Auto Parts and moved to Fort Madison where they lived for 10 years until they retired and moved back to Tipton in 1990.

Lorene had many jobs over the course of her adult life. In Tipton she worked for the Tipton School District as a bus driver for many years. Prior to that she worked at the Atalissa Truck Stop as the manager and Bud’s SuperValue as a clerk. It was said that she never met a stranger. She loved playing golf and was a longtime member of the Tipton Golf and Country Club. She also loved being with friends, family and her grandchildren who described her as bold, hardworking, supportive, caring, honest and frank, old school/traditional, loving, kind, and nice.

Lorene is survived by her children, Gary and Marcia Mickle of Mahomet, Illinois and Cindy and Gary Stuhr of Tipton, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers (Robert Hainline and Lewis Hainline) and grandson, Bryan Mickle. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at the Cedar Manor Nursing Home for their excellent care during the last 6 months of her life.
