Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Lunow Mericle, 64, were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 1 at the Sheets and Son Funeral home with the Rev. Calvin Schumacher officiating. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter Kreinbring, Melvin Derynck, Lloyd and Dale Burmeister, Grover Penningroth and Lawrence Kline. Don Thompson was vocalist and Mrs. Arnold Swan, organist.

Mrs. Mericle died at Mercy hospital, Clinton, Sept. 29, following a short illness.

The daughter of John H. and Mary L. Dettmann Lunow, she was born Nov. 19, 1903 in Springfield township and was educated in the rural Cedar county schools. She was a graduate of Brown's Business college, Davenport.

She was married to Don Gardiner Mericle Jan. 21, 1923 at Chicago, Ill. and was a seamstress. She was employed at one time at Modern Cleaners in Tipton. She had been a resident of Clinton for 18 months.

She was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church and the Women of the Moose.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harriette Hale, Clinton; a foster daughter, Mrs. James (Marjorie) Roach, Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Mrs. William (Ella) Sander, Clarence; 2 grandchildren and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959 and a brother.
