Final rites for Oliver Gower Ehresman, 65, retired farmer, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home July 5, with the Rev. H. W. Poling officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Virgil Griffis Sr., Warren Ritz, Melvin Dernyck, Raymond Crock Sr., Wilbert Helmold and John Sharpless. The Rev. Egerton Nix was vocalist and Mrs. Nix was organist. The Rev. and Mrs. Virgil Griffis Jr. were in charge of flowers.

Ehresman died July 2 at the Extended Care home, Iowa City, following an extended illness.

The son of Alexander and Laurenta Wentzel Ehresman, he was born at Alpena, S.D., and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county. He was married to Eleanor Albaugh, Feb. 23, 1922 at Rock Island, Ill. and following her death, was married to Dorothy Gerth Taylor at Tipton Nov. 26, 1956.

A resident of the Tipton area for 60 years, he retired from farming in 1964. He was a member of the Tipton Four Square church.

He is survived by a son, Glenn, Yermo, Calif. and a daughter, Gladys, Tipton; 3 stepsons, Gary Taylor, Cedar Rapids, Greg Taylor, Long Beach, Calif. and the Rev. T. N. Taylor, Chariton and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Woodrow (Darlene) Pettit Jr., Cedar Rapids; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dale and Ralph, both of Tipton and 2 sisters, Mrs. Forest (Edna) Schlaegel, Stockton, Ill. and Mrs. Abbie Cissna, Portland, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his wives, a son, a daughter and a sister.
