Obituary of Randy D. Oaks

Downey, Iowa

Randy D. Oaks, 66, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021.

No services will be held per Randy’s wishes. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch is caring for Randy’s family.

Randy was born August 9, 1955 in Iowa City the son of Raymond and Doris (Lewis) Oaks. He attended the Lone Tree Community School System. On August 18, 1972 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Rood in Iowa City. Randy has worked as a welder, truck driver and most recently at the University of Iowa where he retired. He was an avid car enthusiast, enjoyed caring for his yard, wood working, and was always tinkering with something.

He is survived by his wife Becky, three sons: Shannon Oaks and his partner Jennifer Long, Bryan (Tammy) Oaks and Justin Oaks all of Downey, eight grandchildren: Ryland, Joshua, Caylee, Abby, Sophie, JaLynn, Maddie and Dani as well as his beloved dog Rascal. Also surviving are his six siblings: Carolyn, Janice, Penny, Gloria, Jeff and Gary. He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings: Nancy, Darlene, Toodie, Raymond, Matthew and Bonnie.
