Lorin Lloyd, 78 of rural West Branch, died May 11 at an Iowa City nursing home following an illness of six weeks.

Services were held Wednesday at the West Branch Methodist church with the Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiating. Burial, with Eastern Star services, was in Memory Gardens in Iowa City.

Mr. Lloyd was born Aug. 22, 1889, at West Branch to James and Lida Gruwell Lloyd. He was married to the former Mary Louella Lehmann Feb. 22, 1913, near West Branch.

He was a member of the West Branch Methodist church, a 5-year member and past noble grand of the Iowa City IOOF Lodge and a member of the IOOF Good Samaritan Encampment, a 50-year member of the West Branch Masonic Lodge, where he currently was treasurer, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the White Shrine of Iowa City and also the Rebekah Lodge at Iowa City.

He also was an active member of the Iowa Mountaineers.

Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Lynn Stegall of Rock Island; four grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Lloyd of West Branch; and three sisters, Mrs. Nelle Scannell and Mrs. Alice Hawley, both of Iowa City, and Mrs. Beatrice Mrstik of Detroit.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
