Herbert Forest Maurer, 81, of Tipton, a retired farmer, died May 10 in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Services were at 2 p.m. May 13 in the First United Church of Christ with burial in Tipton Masonic cemetery with Sheets and Son in charge.
Memorials may be made to the First United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
Mr. Maurer was born in Cedar Valley. He married Bertha Pfarr in Tipton, Feb. 19, 1913. The couple retired from farming in 1946 and moved to Tipton.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Gale and Stanley, both of Tipton; daughters, Mrs. William (Lucile) Horr, Stanwood; Mrs. Gerald (Maureen) Salisbury, Torrance, Calif.; Mrs. George (Margery) Frasuer, Spencer, and Shirley Maurer, Ridley Park, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Hazel Horn and Bernice Maurer, both of Los Angeles, Calif., and brothers, Raymond, Guy and George, all of Tipton.
Organist was Mrs. Arnold Swan. Mr. and Mrs. James Reeve, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hass and Mrs. Neil Carstensen were in charge of flowers. Pallbearers were Rex and Steve Maurer, Rick Fraseur, Larry Horr, Don Yong and Darold King. Honorary pallbearers were Herman Hass, Sylvester Benischek, Emil Hokenson, Walter Conway, Arthur Baer, John Pfettscher and Fred Franco.
