Funeral services for Earl P. Bowers, 69, were held May 9 at the Methodist church in Mechanicsville, with the Rev. James Nelson officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Born at Lisbon Feb. 9, 1898, the son of David and Jessie Bowers, he died May 5 at Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.

He was married to Edith Schorr Aug. 1, 1922. The couple lived on a farm at the south edge of Mechanicsville. He was a member of the Federated church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 brothers, Ralph and George, both of Mt. Vernon.
