Funeral services will be Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. for Lewis Werling, 79, at the Sheets and Son Funeral home with burial in Tipton Masonic cemetery. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Harold Gillaspie with George Thordsen, vocalist and Irma Crawford, organist. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Overman and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kofron are in charge of flowers.

Pallbearers are Donald Werling, Alvin Werling, Ted Werling, Warren Werling, Max Werling and Don Conway. Honorary pallbearers are Max Crawford, Charles Gibbons, Paul Werling, Beryl Werling, Ray A. Potter and Clarence Gritton.

Mr. Werling died at his home in Tipton Jan. 30. He was born July 6, 1887 at Chester, Ohio, the son of Charles and Mary Eiselstien Werling, and educated in the rural Cedar county schools. April 15, 1966 he was married to Emma Strausslin. He was a resident of this county for the past 70 years. He was an implement salesman and for the past several years, active in real estate. He was a member of Maintou Lodge No. 8 Independent Order of Oddfellows.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. John (Louise) Sybil, Solon; a son, Wesley Werling, Muscatine; a grandson and 2 granddaughters and 3 step-sons. His parents, a son, 2 brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
