July 21, 1966 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Mrs. Cornelia Evelina Mitchell, 80, who had been a telephone operator and resident of the Tipton area most of her life, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home July 7. Mrs. Mitchell died July 4, after a lingering illness.

The Rev. E. H. Lauer officiated, with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rismiller in charge of flowers. Mrs. Rolland Meixner sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" accompanied by Laura Geller. C. H. Leabhart, James Phelps, Leonard Dice, Frank Norris, M. L. Gesme and R. R. Werling were pallbearers. Interment was in Tipton Masonic cemetery.

She was born at West Branch Oct. 28, 1885, the daughter of John and Rebecca Johns Clements and educated in the West Branch schools. June 16, 1910, she was married to Lawrence Mitchell. Survivors include 2 sons, Lawrence Jr., Davenport and Carl, Newman, Calif.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Lavon) Martens, Newhall, Calif.; and Mrs. J. L. (Rebecca) Freeman, Phoenix, Ariz.; 4 grandchildren,8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959, a brother and 2 sisters.
