Funeral services were held June 28 for Mrs. Hattie Davis, 89, of West Branch. Mrs. Davis died at a nursing home in West Branch Saturday after a lengthy illness.

The Rev. Irma Guthrie officiated the funeral services which were held at the George L. Gay-Oathout Funeral Home in Iowa City. Burial was in Unity Cemetery in Union Township.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the Unity Presbyterian church in Union Township.

She was born August 28, 1876, in Scott Township. Her parents were Jacob and Elizabeth Paulus Wentz. She married Dewey Davis in 1897. The couple farmed in the Johnson county area before moving to West Branch in 1935.

Survivors include 2 sons, Carl of Iowa City and Dwight of West Liberty; 3 daughters, Mrs. Robert Liniger, Oxford, Mrs. Russell Wolfe, Lowden and Mrs. Kenneth Stuart, Iowa City; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; a brother, John Wentz, West Branch; and a sister, Mrs. Kate Switzer of Atlantic.
