Final rites for Mrs. Johanna Angeline Sergeant, 90, were held May 9 at St. Mary church in Tipton with the Rev. G. A. Lillis officiating. Pallbearers were Charles Gibbons, John Schneider, Gene Harden, Walter Rismiller, Raymond Crock Sr. and Francis Corkery. Mrs. Reno Droll was organist.

Burial was in St. Mary cemetery.

Mrs. Sergeant died May 6 at the Crestview Nursing home in West Branch after a lingering illness.

The daughter of John and Anna Hoffman Young, she was born Jan. 1, 1875 in Marshalltown and attended the Marshalltown schools.

She was married to Ora Sergeant at Marion June 3, 1908. She was a former member of the Women's Relief Corps, the Tipton Woman's club and St. Mary church.

A resident of Tipton most of her life, she had spent the last 3 years with her daughter, Mrs. C. J. (Marian) Adams, West Branch. She is also survived by another daughter, Mrs. Keith (Marilyn) Ocheltree, DeWitt, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1935 and 3 sisters.
