Funeral services for Mrs. Mervin (Katherine Louise) Baker, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Sheets and Son funeral home. The Rev. Harold Gillaspie will be in charge. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Lon LaRue, Donald Challis, Robert Brenner, John Hipple, Marvin McCroskey and John Ahrens are pallbearers. Mrs. Irma Crawford will be organist and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hass are in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Baker died at University hospital, Iowa City, following a lingering illness.

The daughter of John and Louise Dohrn Boettcher, was born near Bennett Feb. 19, 1883 and attended the rural Cedar county school and the Lowden "German" school. She was married to Mervin (Pete) Baker at Clarence Dec. 4, 1906. They farmed in this area from 1917 to 1952 when they retired and moved to Tipton.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Earl, Tipton; 5 daughters, Mrs. Edward (Pearl) Hipple, Moline, Ill.; Mrs. Everett (Gladys) Miller and Mrs. Ethel Park, both of Tipton; Mrs. Kenneth (Violet) Kelley, Moscow and Mrs. Melvin (Jean) Baker, Mechanicsville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Albert (Mary) Curtis, Perry and Mrs. Arthur (Martha) Klahn, Cedar Rapids, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
