Funeral services for Galen W. Hillyer, 68, Wilton Junction, were held Feb. 16 at Wilton Junction with the Rev. Homer F. Perry officiating. Burial was in the Oakland cemetery at Wilton Junction.

Mr. Hillyer died Feb. 13 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City after a lengthy illness.

The son of Theodore and Jamima Whitmer Hillyer, he was born May 6, 1897 at Tipton. A former resident of Cedar county he moved to Wilton Junction 4 years ago. He was a retired farmer.

He married Vella Walter, Dec. 22, 1915 at Tipton. Mr. Hillyer was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Warren W., Tipton and Gale W., Wilton Junction; a daughter, Elaine Nebergall of Davenport. Five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
