17 June 1965 - The Tipton Conservative

Frank Clifford Smith, 65, a resident of Cedar Bluff for the past 12 years, died June 2 at his home.

Funeral services were June 4 at the Sheets and Son funeral home in Tipton with the Rev. E. H. Laurer officiating. Burial was in Red Oak cemetery.

Pallbearers were Francis Suchomel, William Herbst, Ralph Stout, Everett Irving, William Suchomel and Frank Shima. Mrs. Arnold Swan was organist and Mrs. Richard Palmer, vocalist.

Mr. Smith was born June 24, 1899 near Cedar Valley, educated in the rural Cedar county schools and married Feb. 26, 1921, to Clara Ellen Murray in Tipton. They retired from farming in 1953 and moved to Cedar Bluff.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Dorothy) Amate, Petaluma, Calif.; Mrs. William (Geraldine) Garlick, McMinnville, Ore.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Rose Williams, Atalissa; Mrs. Christina Crees, West Liberty; Mrs. Helen Hartley, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Kathryn Osborn, Montpelier; one brother, John Smith, Davenport; a half sister, Mrs. Mary Schriven, Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, his parents, 2 sisters and a brother.
