Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Conservative Friends Meeting House in West Branch for Walter Thomas, 92. Burial will be in Hickory Grove cemetery.

Mr. Thomas died May 31 at West Branch nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Thomas was born Dec. 22, 1872 near West Branch, the son of Pierson and Sally Walker Thomas. He married the former Anna Crew in June, 1910.

A birthright member of the Society of Friends, Mr. Thomas taught at Scattergood school for several years, operated his own business college in Streeter, Ill., from 1920 to 1945; and from 1945 to 1951 was caretaker at the Hoover birthplace in West Branch.

He is survived by 2 sons, Edgar, Oradell, N.J., and Alton, Lawrence, Kans., and by a sister, Mrs. Melissa Fawcett of West Branch. Three grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife in 1953.
