Funeral services for Johonnis Wehde, 83, were held April 12 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard and Ruel Wehde, Harry E. Wehde Jr., Robert Thee and Walter and Harold Timm, all grandsons. Mrs. Richard Anderson was vocalist and Mrs. Arnold Swam, organist.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Beyer, Mr. and Mrs. John Burroughs and Mrs. Bert Highly were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Wehde died April 9 at the Crestview nursing home at West Branch, following a lingering illness.

The son of Detlef and Emma Gottesch Wehde, he was born April 27, 1881 in Scott county and was educated in the Cedar county schools.

He was married to Ella Kroger at the Lutheran parsonage in Tipton Feb. 20, 1907. They farmed in Cedar county until 1940 when they retired and moved to Tipton. Mrs. Wehde died in 1962.

He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the Tipton lodge of the I.O.O.F.

Mr. Wehde is survived by 3 sons, Chris, Marion and Harold and Harry, Tipton; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Timm, Tipton; 17 grandchildren, including Mrs. Harold (Janice) Parson, Norfolk, Va. and Robert Three, Tipton, who made their home with the Wehdes, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 2 daughters, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
