Services for Ralph Goodrich Challis, 65, were held Feb. 27 at the Sheets and Son funeral home in Tipton with the Rev. James Elvig officiating, assisted by the Rev. Louis Penningroth. Pallbearers were John Doyle, E. R. Lange, Edward Porter, Jack Babcock, Roger Brown and Floyd Link. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist and Mrs. Keith Fields and Mrs. Richard Fields were in charge of flowers.

Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Challis died unexpectedly at his home in Iowa City Feb. 24.

The son of Thomas and Sarah Goodrich Challis, he was born at Tipton Jan. 1, 1900 and graduated from Tipton high school. He was married to Eva Lu Werling in Tipton on Sept. 1, 1921.

He was a salesman for a wholesale hardware company in Davenport for many years, and had been manager of the A.A.A. office in Iowa City for 6 years. He lived in Davenport for 20 years before moving to Iowa City in 1959.

He was a member of Benevolence lodge No. 145 A.F. & A.M. at Mason City.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Arron L. (Virginia) Lake, Davenport; a son, Dean, Davenport, a brother, Ray, Tipton, 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
