Funeral services for Harry E. Barnes Sr., 68, a native of Rochester, were held Jan. 27 at Ames with burial at Ames. Mr. Barnes died Jan. 25 at his home in Ames after an illness of 6 months.

He had lived in Ames since 1929 and had been freight foreman for the Chicago and North Western railroad, retiring in 1961. He was a member of the First Methodist church, the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. He saw service in World War I.

He is survived by his wife, Lola; 3 sons, Harry E., Clinton and Royal and Roland, both of Ames; a daughter, Mrs. Opal Reese, Nevada; 5 brothers, Frank, Salt Lake City, Utah; James, Hartford, Conn.; Clarence, Stanwood; Thomas, Tipton; and Earl, Cedar Rapids; 2 sisters, Mrs. Vila Curtis, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Helen Achey, Jacksonville, Fla. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a grandson.
