Last rites for Elda Howard Voelkers, 65, were held June 15 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. E. H. Lauer in charge. Burial was in Inland cemetery near Bennett.
Mr. Voelkers died suddenly at his home June 12.
The son of John and Katherine Frank Voelkers, he was born Dec. 1, 1898 in Dixon and was educated in the Dixon schools. He was married to Dorothy Eserhaut March 7, 1939 at Davenport. He had been a farmer and trucker in the Cedar county area for many years and moved to Tipton about 10 years ago after retiring from farming.
He is survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. Katherine Voelkers, Wheatland; 4 daughters, Mrs. Donald (La Don) Saylars, DeWitt, Shirley, DeWitt, and Betty and Dorinda, at home, a son, Allen, at home; 3 brothers, Orval, Wheatland; John, Durant; Harvey, Davenport; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Pearl Shaw, Chicago, Ill. and Mrs. Harry (Opal) Petersen, Davenport; and 2 grandchildren.
