Funeral services for Benjamin B. Long, 90, were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Roger Engel of Iowa City in charge.
Pallbearers were Mearl Christian, Leonard Voss, John Coder, Loyd Wood, Gaylord Goodale and Don Nelson. Mrs. Raymond Clements was organist and Mrs. Richard Anderson, vocalist. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.
Mr. Long died Dec. 9 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City after a long illness.
The son of Hiram and Barbara Cronkhite Long, he was born Sept. 4, 1872 in Jones county. He was married to Anna M. Goodale Dec. 23, 1893. He farmed in the Tipton and Rochester communities until he retired.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Helen McGee and Mrs. John Sharpless, Tipton; 3 sons, Hiram, DeWitt; Orville, Cedar Rapids and Raymond, Letts; 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
