6 December 1962 - The Tipton Advertiser

Funeral services for Roy Benjamin McAfee, 48, were held Dec. 1 at the Dye funeral home with the Rev. I. O. Espeseth in charge. Burial was in Woodbridge cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Port, George Thordsen, Max Biggs, William Ziba, Wayne Biggs and Walter Fankhauser. The Rev. Edgerton Nix was vocalist and Mrs. Nix, organist.

There were American Legion and V.F.W. military rites at the graveside.

Mr. McAfee died at his home in Tipton at 11 p.m. Nov. 29, following an extended illness.

The son of Benjamin and Mary Thordsen McAfee, he was born in Tipton May 18, 1914. He was married to Evelyn Romberg at the Tipton Methodist church in Tipton March 8, 1952.

He served in the army from Dec. 7, 1942 to Nov. 14, 1945, during World War II, including 11 months overseas. He took part in the Rhineland and Central European campaign.

He was a member of the Four Square Gospel church, the American Legion and was junior vice-president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. McAfee was employed by the Tipton Lumber company at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mary Jessica, his mother, 2 brothers, Elmer, Monrovia, Calif., and Warren, Davenport; 3 sisters, Mrs. Cora Adams, Davenport; Mrs. Edna Martin, Tipton and Mrs. Ruth Cronkhite, Yuma, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his father, 2 brothers and a sister.
